From 24 May 2011, sellers in the UK & US have more opportunities to access the rapidly growing number of online shoppers in Australia. We've made changes to eBay.com.au that mean a number of categories on the site are open to a greater proportion of relevant listings from eBay.co.uk and eBay.com.
Why have we done this? Well, Australian consumers are buying more online, yet local ecommerce sellers don't yet offer full product ranges that enable shoppers to get the items they want locally.
This means a growing number are turning to overseas websites. So displaying relevant listings from the UK and US will increase the likelihood shoppers will find what they are looking for on eBay.com.au.
We'll initially implement these changes across a variety of categories where:
- There are inventory gaps
- Australian buyers already have a high rate of purchasing from overseas sellers
All you sellers who already offering either worldwide postage or deliver to Australia don’t need to do anything further. And to set delivery expectations, Australian buyers will be reminded in the purchase flow that the item they have purchased is located outside of Australia.
Sellers who don't currently offer either of these postage options but would like to sell to Australia can do so by making the appropriate changes. If, however, you don't want to open your sales to Australian buyers please change your international postage preferences.
